While many associate Japan with the color red, due to its iconic sun flag, Shinto shrines, and vibrant koi fish, there is a rich, lesser-known heritage tied to Indigo, or Japanese Blue. Rooted in “aizome”, the traditional art of dyeing with indigo, this color has been cherished for centuries; not just for its beauty, but for its antibacterial and insect-repelling qualities. This made indigo-dyed clothing a preferred choice for many noble samurai.
Inspired by this deep connection, our Indigo Samurai Keycaps embody the serene and disciplined life of the samurai, highlighting the quieter, peaceful aspects of their existence. The intricate Japanese writing on the keycaps highlights calligraphy, a hobby cherished by samurai for its meditative practice. Across the top row, you’ll find emblems of the most revered ancient samurai clans, paying homage to their legacy.
